culture & Identity

I have always been drawn to the photographic visions and old film, capturing life in its very sudden moments. However as I've grown into a woman and explored the boundaries and historic practices of photography, I have learned and unlearned about the how the industry over time have exploited and glorified indigenous cultures. As a Maori woman myself, being able to re imagine and re create the stories and portraiture of our people where the vision of them is dignified and solely focused on their connection to earth and ancestors, my love for cultural portraiture and storytelling has blossomed here.
