culture & Identity

As an indigenous woman I have grown to fall in love with a part of myself, an identity that I did not accept when I was younger. This work as a photographer and storyteller has enabled me to rebirth a heart and soul connection to my vision. Exploring the very boundaries and historic practices of photography, I have learned and unlearned about how this particular industry has over time exploited and glorified indigenous cultures. As a Maori woman myself, being able to re imagine and re create the stories and solely focused on their connection to earth and ancestors, my love for cultural portraiture and storytelling has simply blossomed into a healing art form.
